Mindgardens is pleased to present the fourth edition of the MindLabs Psychosis webinar series for 2025, Nutrition and Psychosis: Practical Approaches for Clinicians, presented by Dr Scott Teasdale.

Speaker

Dr Scott Teasdale is a Senior Research Fellow with the Discipline of Psychiatry and Mental Health at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), and an Accredited Practising Dietitian. He holds an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellowship focusing on reducing physical health comorbidities in people with serious mental illness. He works closely with Keeping the Body in Mind(gardens), a pillar of the Mindgardens Neuroscience Network, which facilitates and supports physical health research within the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Mental Health Service. Dr Teasdale focuses on real world effectiveness and implementation research. His research program has helped drive a clear role for dietitians in preventing and managing physical health disparities in people living with severe mental illness.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the webinar, participants will gain knowledge and insights into physical activity in mental health support through the following learning outcomes:

  • Recognise common nutritional challenges and dietary risk factors affecting individuals living with psychosis, including the impact of antipsychotic medications and social determinants of health.
  • Describe the role of nutrition in the physical and mental health outcomes of people with psychosis.
  • Recognise and apply practical approaches to starting conversations and supporting consumers around food and nutrition.
