A new chapter in First Nations-led mental health and suicide prevention
Black Dog Institute proudly celebrates the launch of the Indigenous Australian Lived Experience Centre (IALEC) – a newly independent, First Nations-led organisation dedicated to elevating the lived and living experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in mental health and suicide prevention across Australia.
This milestone marks the transition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre (ILEC), originally established within Black Dog Institute in 2019. After six years of growth, collaboration, and sector leadership, IALEC now stands as a self-determined organisation with its own governance, identity, and vision, guided by First Nations leadership and community voices.
